Week 20

You are each about 15 -16cm.

You are developing your senses. You can’t hear yet but your ear structures are getting ready.

An update on Mummy:

My baby bump seems to be really growing fast!!

Very hot days on the tube and in the office. Gave notice formal notice to work that I will leave end of October!! Got to start planning for handover to whoever will do my maternity cover. My 6 month review went well. All becoming a reality after all these yearsthat we will have babies soon!

Tried not to be too stressed about the lady on Ebay who didn’t refund return of the cot. 😦

Feeling a bit sick and having heart palpitations! Feeling you kick and turn is reassuring – though you are still as soft as butterflies! 🙂 🦋

Feeling happy and energetic. Cravings; feta and goats cheese

Me and you… What have we been doing this week?

Mummy did some needle felting!

Picked blackberries from the garden with Aunty Bom Bom. So much fun cutting down the brambles with her and Daddy.

Had the courage to put a photo of bare baby bump on facebook!

It was Nanny’s birthday so we sent her a ‘little bag of love’ which made her cry!

We went to the City Farm near work. Couldn’t touch the lambs but looked at them. The new cafe there is nice.

Amazing to have reached 20 weeks!!

Our scan is coming up! We get to see you again! Yay! 🙂 🙂

Week 15

You are each about 9cm. Your bodies are now in proportion and getting heavier.

An update on mummy:

My tummy is showing much more. Still feeling tired but less sick. I have been able to take less of my anti sickness tablets.

Got a lovely card from Great Uncle D and Great Aunty E to say congratulations.

Had a nose bleed and was sick one day. The constant sneezy blocked nose is meant to be normal at this stage. Can’t wait to feel you kick. Sometimes I feel tightness and what I think may be movement but likely just wind!!

There is a heatwave so staying out of the sun. Wearing new dresses ready for holiday. Daddy making ice and putting on the air con unit.

I enjoyed seeing the team at work. Trained them in a cool meeting room 😅

You and me… What did we do this week?

Mummy and daddy didn’t expect to see you this week, but when mummy was examined by the specialist to check all ok with her cervix on 18th July he did a quick scan.

We heard your strong heart beats and saw you move! We love you so much ❤️❤️

We visited our friend who is due next week. We talked about pregnancy and got excited to meet our babies. She gave mummy a maternity skirt and baby bouncer. 😄

Two blue lines

Mummy had been charting her cycle and knew she was late.

Never had I had 17 days post peak day before. This was the longest ever in over a year and a half of charting (the longest was 14 days). I had cramps like my usual was about to arrive but it didn’t!

I tried not to analyse or stress! and anyway I doubted I could be pregnant as in April I had done all the wrong things; stroked lambs, ate pate 4 days in a row, only got together with hubby once in our fertile week as he had a cold! and for the first time in a long while I had an alcoholic drink with Aunty M!

The Napro consultant said I needed to be on progesterone the moment I know I am pregnant (being 40 I would need this support to help prevent miscarriage). So I sent my charting lady a message and she advised I test the very next day if there was still no show. If i was i would need to contact the consultant straight away.

So, on 11th May on waking and knowing it still hadn’t arrived I made sure I didn’t go for a wee but held on and asked your Daddy to take me to Sainsbury’s to buy a test and test before I left for work.

At 7.10 am (desperate by this time to go for a wee) we got home and I ran upstairs and did a test.

Almost immediately I could see a blue line just like the control. I shouted downstairs to daddy ‘ I’M PREGNANT!’ though asked him to check the instructions whilst nervously shaking.

He checked them and there was no doubt that you were a reality!

I had to test again on the Sunday as we had two tests in the pack and i wanted to make sure i still was. That time the line was even stronger!

When I found out i was shocked, stressed as rushing for work, amazed, full of disbelief, grateful to God for his promises, excited, worried, happy, overwhelmed.

Daddy was sooo happy! We thanked God for you, our little blessing!!

Wow! Never been pregnant before – it took us 5 years!!

We told nanny and Grandpa on the phone at 7.30am. They were so happy and excited to be Grandparents. Aunty M (first time Aunty) cried when I told her on the way to work on a quiet tube journey. Aunty Bom Bom (first time Aunty) was in shock. Grandma fell to her knees in prayer (first time Grandma). Grandad over the moon too (first time Grandad).

Our small groups of friends who have been praying with us for years were so pleased and supportive.

Hopes:

  • the pregnancy lasts full term and I get to love you forever
  • you are healthy
  • I will soon be a mum
  • to have twins
  • to have enough money to support us

Worries:

  • I hadn’t eaten well or had enough folic acid
  • I had drunk an alcoholic drink
  • It wouldn’t be real or last
  • would we have enough money?

You would be due January 13th at 40 weeks. Last period 10th April.
